Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
I’ve been overjoyed to have congregants ask me this past December when next year’s reading plan would be ready. Praise God! Its been my goal at Meadowview to help us as a Church to get in the habit of reading the Word each day. In 2022, we read the whole New Testament together with a survey of some Old Testament passages. In 2023 we read the whole Old Testament together which is 3.5 times the length of the New. So, if you completed both, not only have you increased your daily reading stamina and capacity but you have also read the whole Bible in 2 years.
This year’s Scripture reading plan incorporates another increase. Your mission in 2024, should you choose to accept it, will be to read the whole New Testament, the narrative portions of the Old Testament, and the Psalms and Proverbs (twice!). Here’s what it looks like on weekly basis:
- 6 days/week: 1-2 Old Testament Chapters
- 5 days/week: 1 New Testament Chapter
- 7 days/week: 1 Psalm or Proverb

You may wonder, why don’t we just read the whole Bible in a year? Go for it! You can do that by combining the 2022 NT Plan with the 2023 OT Plan or by reading the above 2024 Plan and adding in the books it skips, which are listed on the plan in the margins.
As a note, it is my intention for 2025 to read the New Testament again along with much of the Old Testament including the books we skipped in 2o24. So in 2024 & 2025 you’ll read the New Testament twice and the Old Testament 1+ times.
I leave you with this thought. Jesus equated the Word of God to food (Matthew 4:4). I know none of us would unintentionally go without food for a day. Sadly, that’s not the case with our dining on Scripture. I include myself in that assessment. In 2024, let’s be sure to get our daily dose of gospel hope by planning our day around feasting on the Word and not the other way around.
