Pastoral Search Update – 3/27/2025

MARCH 27, 2025

Proverbs 3:5–6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Dearest Saints of Meadowview:

Greetings in the Lord!  As you know, after worship on February 2nd*, we informed you of the process for selecting the next Senior Pastor, given Pastor George’s Plans to take a Call with Ministry to State.  We updated you on that process at the Congregational meeting on March 2.  This letter is the first in our attempts to provide you monthly, written updates going forward.

For those of you who were at MRPC during prior Pastoral searches, there is a new and time-consuming step that has been added. PCA churches today develop a “Church Profile” and produce a professional pamphlet, which highlights to the candidates our congregational identity and needs; and the desired Pastoral strengths and experience.

To that end, the Session has taken February and March to assess where we have come over the last few years, who we are as a Church, and what our priorities and needs are; to best communicate these things to potential candidates.  We pray that taking our time during this step will help us to discern and hire the right candidate for the long-term health of Meadowview.  As Proverbs 19:12 says, Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.

Below is the approximate timetable for the next steps in the Pastoral search process.

  • April – May 2025: The Session and staff will develop and write the church profile and submit to a professional for publication.
  • June 2025: Church members will be asked to nominate and elect the Pulpit Committee. Nominations will be open for multiple weeks.
  • July 2025: The Pulpit Committee will begin meeting on a regular basis.

The Pulpit Committee will be nominated and elected by a congregational vote and will include Elders, Deacons, adult men, and adult women. Once the Pulpit Committee is installed, any further updates will come from that committee.

The most important thing for each of us as we wait on the Lord, is to look to our Savior in faith, remembering that He has said  “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). To that end, we are calling on the members of Meadowview to be in daily, expectant prayer for our pastoral search!  We each need to diligently seek the Lord‘s will and to reveal to us who He has preordained to lead MRPC. We ask that small groups (life groups, men’s Bible study, women’s Bible study, Car Care, etc.) pray for the pastoral search when you meet.

Finally, we will have a 24-hour prayer vigil on Thursday, May 1, 2024. We would love for every teen and adult at Meadowview to pray for one hour (at a convenient time) for the pastoral search. You can do this at your home, or gather with others and pray together. We will provide a prayer guide as the time gets closer. Sign-up here.

If you have questions regarding the pastoral search, please ask the three pastors or any of your Elders.

The Meadowview Session

Proverbs 11:14
Where there is no guidance, a people falls
but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

* The original version of this update incorrectly said the first update was on January 26th. It was in fact on February 2nd that Pastor George announced his departure and RE Richard Jones explained the process for the pastor search at Meadowview.
